You can use a timer to power the unit on and off. The switch of the unit will need to be pre-set to the desired position (high or low). However, we highly recommend the following:
- The timer has a power rating at least 20 watts minimum
- The timer has a current rating to be at least 0.5 Amperes AC minimum
- The timer is labeled “heavy duty”
Furthermore, the Dohm is not made to be used on a dimmer switch. (You can use a timer with it, but not a dimmer switch.) The motor isn't compatible with the way a dimmer switch operates.
